Staff Parish Relations Committee

The Staff Parish Relations Committee works closely with the lead pastor and provides support and oversight of the staff of the church.  The committee is one that is required by our Methodist polity and the United Methodist Book of Discipline.  Members of the committee provide an interface between the staff and congregation, articulating the needs of the people to the staff and communicating to the congregation the nature of ministry conducted by the pastors and staff.  Establishing employment policies, preparing job descriptions and establishing goals for individual staff members are among the committee’s responsibilities.   The committee also serves as the connection point between the church and the District Superintendent, the Bishop’s representative, particularly when a pastoral vacancy occurs.  The committee encourages members of the congregation who may be experiencing a call to ministry, either as ordained and licensed pastors, as deacons, or as Christ Servant Ministers. (Christ Servant Ministers are a group of lay people who pursue additional training to improve their skills for leadership in the local church.)
