Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. —Proverbs 3:5-6
Our Pastors, staff members and members of our congregation devote considerable time and energy to counseling. Some of the areas include:
Pre-marital Counseling (prior to wedding)
Couples meet with the Pastor several times to prepare for their life together, to learn about their faith and about each other. This is required of all couples who desire to be married at Grove.
The Pastors and staff provide short-term counseling for couples experiencing difficulty in their marriage. Those with significant issues or long-term needs are offered referrals to area counselors known to provide both excellence in counseling and sensitivity to spiritual issues. Financial assistance is available from the church for those unable to afford the full cost of private counseling.
After the death of a loved one, counsel and guidance can be very helpful. For some that may take the form of individual counseling with one of the pastors. In addition, Grove offers the GriefShare program, a support group led by Grove pastors and staff, to help participants through the grieving process.
Our Youth Pastor stays in touch with teens and provides friendship and counsel when needed. Mentors are arranged for all youth going through the Confirmation process.
The Pastors and staff make themselves available to answer questions and to counsel on matters of faith.
Home Bound Visitation and Communion
The Home Communion Team allows us to extend the communion table to include those who are home bound. On Communion Sundays the trained communion servers visit members of our church family who cannot get to church services, bringing them the opportunity to join the church at the Lord’s Table.
Hospital Visitation Team
These individuals visit the hospital when members of our church family are hospitalized and offer care and support.
The Pastors bring communion and visit in the home and in the hospital as requested and needed.
End of Life
Our Pastors are available for Hospice patients, those facing end of life issues, and their families.
After a divorce, it is difficult to put life back together and move forward. DivorceCare is a support group led by Grove pastors and staff to help participants heal and find hope after a divorce.
Grove’s Christian Education department teams up with Grove Preschool leaders to offer parenting classes. These workshops provide strategies and advice on the practical and spiritual side of parenting.
Following the classic twelve step process, this group helps people gain control of their relationship with food. Overeaters Anonymous (OA) meets weekly in our building on the second floor.
A well-known independent organization, Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) holds weekly meetings upstairs in our building on Tuesday night. Based on reliance on a higher power, the AA process enables those with an alcohol addiction to find new hope and live alcohol free.
