LUNCH &PLAY
Lunch & Play is a delightful extension of the preschool day. The program is optional for all students attending the 3 and 4 yr old programs at Grove. It runs from 11am to 1pm. Students come to Lunch & Play either before their PM session begins or after their AM session ends.
The program runs approximately 3 days a week every other week. Open
reservation dates are available so parents can book several days in advance at a discounted rate.
CURRICULUM
Our curriculum includes both free play and guided activities. Sensory, motor, perceptual and language skills are developed through both child-centered and teacher-directed activities. Activities are chosen which
emphasize the process rather than the product, fostering a sense of accomplishment and pride. Included in the curriculum are monthly music classes.
Based on the theory that children learn through play, classroom routines
encourage active involvement and reinforcement through repetition. Schedules are designed to balance structure and free choice as well as active and quiet times.
Since preschool will be the first regular classroom experience for most children, it is hoped that a relaxed session with a wide choice of activities will foster each child's natural enthusiasm for learning. With understanding and gentleness, we strive to help each child make a smooth transition from home to school.
Class size is limited so that individual attention can be given to each child. The enrichment classes are offered for those children who would most enjoy additional classes with diverse activities such as cooking, crafts and language experience stories. Every class is taught by a certified teacher assisted by a full-time aide.
DRESS
Comfort and safety first! Your child should be dressed in washable clothes which are free of complicated fasteners. This encourages independence. Shoes and sneakers with rubber soles are suggested. No sandals, flip-flops or crocs please. Mittens, hats and appropriate outer gear are important for outdoor play. Please label all garments.
PARENT/TEACHER CONFERENCES
A get-acquainted time will be scheduled prior to the first day of school. Formal conferences will be scheduled for mid-winter in the four-year-old program and early spring for the three-year-old program to discuss your child's progress.
Teachers and the director are available at a mutually convenient time through- out the school year to discuss concerns you may have.
FIELD TRIPS
All parents wishing to volunteer as chaperones to any school field trip must provide a current copy of a criminal and child abuse background check. Links to these forms can be found here.
PARTY DAYS
Birthdays are celebrated through the year and are scheduled by the teacher. Holiday parties are held at Halloween, Christmas, Valentine's Day and Easter. We have a Thanksgiving feast in November. Parents may sign up to contribute special treats for our parties.
HEALTH STATEMENT
Each child is required by state regulations to have on file a health statement, which includes a record of up-to-date immunizations and the signature of the childs doctor. If a childs health form is not received by the school by September 30th, the child will be excluded from the program until the health form is completed.
WITHDRAWAL FROM PROGRAM
The school reserves the right to drop a student for any reason at the discretion of the director, the sole remedy being prorated refund of tuition. Reasons might include, but are not limited to, noncooperation, delinquency in payment of fees, and inability of the child or parent to adjust to the school program.
TUITION
Tuition is figured as an annual fee. No refunds are given for illness, vacations or storm days. Days missed due to illness, family vacations or weather related school closings are not made up. Falling one month behind in tuition payments will result in exclusion from the program until payment is made. If withdrawal during the year is necessary, 30 days notice is required. Written notice to the director as well as the teacher will insure a refund of tuition paid.
SCHOOL VISITS
Parents are invited to meet the director in the church foyer at the following times for a brief tour of the school. Children are welcome but must be with the parent at all times. Tour begins at 10 AM.
