The Adult Forum for Discussion, Inquiry & Learning
The mind of the prudent acquires knowledge, and the ear of the wise seeks knowledge. —Proverbs 18:15
The Adult Forum, formerly Contemporary Issues, is held Sundays, 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM in the Zuschnitt Lounge (Upstairs first door on right) . Coffee and casual conversation are available from 9:45AM; come early to mingle and then be seated for a prompt start at 11:00 AM. Classes run for 4 to 6 weeks on a topic, and take a break at times between topics. The class does not meet during the winter from mid-December through Febrary or in the summer. Check the Grove Calendar, Monthly Newsletter, the Grove Weekly Bulletins, or look at the window signs on the door into Grove for specific dates and topics.
That which is, is far off, and deep, very deep; who can find it out? I turned my mind to know and to search out and to seek wisdom and the sum of things. —Ecclesiastes 7:24-25
Multi-month series have included:
- Water resources
- Middle Eastern perspectives
- Pharmaceuticals, broadly defined
- Communication in the modern age
- God’s children at war
- Education’s complex issues
- Political candidates for local and state office
- Chester County’s changing demographics
The Adult Forum class studies complex current issues and seeks ways to respond and act. In 2014, the class was tackling “Christian Hot Potatoes” , including topics such as the death penalty and homosexuality.
Who is Invited?
Our practice is to invite someone with expertise or experience in our area of interest to come share a brief presentation, followed by discussion driven by our questions. We encourage interested people to drop in for a single topic or for a series.
Our participants vary in age, occupation/education, school district residence, party affiliation, and interests. We have in common our desire to learn and either to discuss or to listen to the discussion of others.
